Engineered Wood Flooring by Plank Length
A common misconception of wood flooring is that plank length is better a certain way. However, the honest answer is that plank length is personal preference. The length of an engineered floor can change the way the room will eventually look, but it comes down to what your prefer in a room. Shorter planks can look better in smaller rooms, helping them to feel bigger than they really are and long planks can help a bigger room feel more together and elegant.
Long Planks
Engineered floors with long planks have always been considered to make your room look longer and more spacious. We agree that if your room is grand and spacious, this does make the room open up and a smaller room can loose the grandeur of long boards due to furniture and how many lengths you can install.
Short Lengths
We think short lengths are always the answer for a smaller, cosey room. You get more wood for your money, or should we say you see more of the design and planks. We also think this makes smaller rooms look bigger because there are more boards to see. In a large room small planks can often make the room look to busy.
Mixed Lengths
Have we found the answer? Mixed length, or 'random length', engineered wood floors are ideal! Especially random lengths that range from 400mm - 1800mm, this brings the perfect balance of long and short boards to any large or small room. Perfect! It is of course, all in the eye of the beholder!
